Louisiana Contractor License Renewal: Deadline, Fee, CE Hours
Licenses renew every year, but on the online renewal form you can choose a one-, two- or three-year term.1 Commercial, mold and home improvement contractors have no continuing education requirement.2
Renewal rules for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing: check with Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC).
When does a Louisiana contractor license expire?
Licenses renew every year, but on the online renewal form you can choose a one-, two- or three-year term. The Board emails renewal notices 60 and 15 days before expiration, and you cannot renew earlier than 60 days before expiration. A license expired for more than a year cannot be renewed and you must apply again, though you do not retake trade exams if your qualifier and classifications stay the same.1
How many continuing education hours does Louisiana require?
Commercial, mold and home improvement contractors have no continuing education requirement. Residential building contractors must complete 6 hours of Board-approved continuing education each year, unless they also hold a commercial license in Building Construction, Highway Street and Bridge, Heavy, or Municipal and Public Works Construction.2
How much is the Louisiana renewal fee?
State law caps Louisiana contractor license fees at $50 for an exam, $100 for a license, $100 for renewal, $50 for a delinquent renewal and $50 for home improvement registration.3
