When does a Massachusetts contractor license expire?

An HIC registration is valid for two years. Start your renewal 30 to 60 days before it expires and pay the $100 renewal fee online through the MA Contractor Hub. A CSL is renewed every two years for $100; there is a one-year grace period after expiration, and after more than two years you must retake the exam.1

CSL holders complete continuing education every two years: 12 hours for Unrestricted, 10 hours for Restricted and 6 hours for Specialty, with at least one hour in each of code review, workplace safety, business practices and workers' compensation, energy, and lead safe practices. Up to six hours can be taken online and the rest in a classroom, and courses should be finished at least 60 days before the license expires.2

How much is the Massachusetts renewal fee?

HIC renewal is $100. CSL renewal is $100, and an additional $100 allows renewal up to two years after expiration.1
